A Professional Phone System Without the Hardware Headaches
Summit Internet owns and operates Melbourne’s most extensive business fixed wireless network — covering 500+ suburbs across 4,500+ km². Fast symmetric speeds, 99% uptime guarantee, and connected in as little as 10 business days.
Overview
Your phone system shapes how customers experience your business. Missed calls, crackly audio and clunky transfers tell callers you are not ready for their business. FlexPBX changes that — giving you a full-featured, enterprise-grade phone system hosted in the cloud, managed through a simple web portal, and priced for small and mid-sized businesses.
FlexPBX replaces your old on-premises phone system with a cloud-hosted PBX that works on desk phones, DECT cordless handsets, softphone apps and conference phones. There is no server room hardware to maintain, no expensive upgrades every few years, and no limit on how many extensions you can add as your team grows. Every feature — IVR auto attendant, ring groups, voicemail to email, hot desking, time-based routing — is included in one simple per-user price.
What truly sets FlexPBX apart is what happens when you pair it with a Summit internet connection. Because Summit owns and operates its own network (ACMA Carrier Licence #388), we can prioritise your voice traffic with end-to-end Quality of Service. That means your calls stay clear and uninterrupted even when your team is downloading large files, streaming video or backing up to the cloud. This is something you simply cannot get when your phone provider and internet provider are two different companies.
Key Benefits
All Features, One Price
Every FlexPBX user gets the full feature set — IVR, ring groups, call recording, voicemail to email, hold music, call transfer, hot desking and more. There are no tiers to navigate and no surprise charges for the feature you actually need. One price per user, everything included.
Crystal-Clear Call Quality with QoS
When FlexPBX runs on a Summit internet connection, your voice traffic is given priority over data traffic across our own network. The result is consistently clear, professional-quality calls — not the choppy, dropping audio that plagues businesses buying phone and internet from separate providers.
Work from Anywhere
FlexPBX is not tied to a desk. Your team can take calls on a desk phone in the office, a softphone app on their laptop at home, or their mobile while on the road. One system, one number, wherever your people are.
Scales with Your Business
Adding a new team member takes minutes, not days. There is no rewiring, no technician visit and no hardware to order (unless you want a new handset). Whether you have five people today or fifty next year, FlexPBX grows with you.
Professional Image from Day One
An IVR auto attendant greets callers and routes them to the right department. Ring groups ensure someone always picks up. Time-based routing sends after-hours calls to voicemail or a mobile. Even a two-person business can sound like a company ten times its size.
No Hardware to Maintain
Your phone system lives in the cloud, hosted and maintained by Summit. There are no servers in your office to manage, no firmware updates to worry about, and no catastrophic hardware failures that take your phones offline. We handle the infrastructure so you can focus on your business.
Simple Web Management Portal
Add users, change call routing, update your IVR greeting, configure ring groups — all from a straightforward web portal. You do not need an IT degree or a technician visit to manage your phone system. Changes take effect immediately.
Keep Your Existing Numbers
Switching to FlexPBX does not mean changing your phone numbers. We port your existing numbers across so your customers, suppliers and marketing materials stay exactly as they are.
How It Works
Choose Your Devices
Tell us how your business handles calls today — who answers, where calls should route, what happens after hours — and we configure FlexPBX to match. No generic templates; your phone system is set up for the way you actually work.
Site Survey
Select from desk phones, DECT cordless handsets, a reception console for your front desk, softphone apps for remote workers, or conference phones for meeting rooms. Mix and match across your team.
We Provision and Port
Summit sets up your FlexPBX system, provisions your devices, and ports your existing phone numbers. We test everything before go-live so there is zero disruption to your business.
You Manage It from the Web Portal
Once live, you have full control through the FlexPBX management portal. Add or remove users, update routing, pull call reports and adjust settings any time you need to.

Use Cases
The Growing Professional Services Firm
A 15-person accounting firm has outgrown its old phone system. Partners need calls routed to their mobile when they are visiting clients. The reception desk needs to handle high call volumes during tax season. FlexPBX gives them IVR routing, ring groups for the support team, follow-me for partners, and a reception console — all managed from a web portal without an IT team.
The Multi-Site Retail Business
A retail chain with four Melbourne stores needs a unified phone system. Calls to the head office number can overflow to store managers. Each store has its own direct number but they all operate on the same system. Staff can transfer calls between locations as easily as transferring to the next desk. FlexPBX connects all four sites under one system, one management portal, and one bill.
The Hybrid Workforce
A marketing agency has ten staff — five in the office, five working from home. Every team member uses the softphone app on their laptop, and office-based staff also have desk phones. Customers call one number and reach the right person regardless of where they are sitting. FlexPBX makes the office location irrelevant to the caller experience.
The Medical Practice
A GP clinic needs after-hours calls routed to an answering service, an IVR to direct patients to bookings, results or emergencies, and voicemail to email so doctors can triage messages remotely. FlexPBX handles all of this, and when bundled with Summit internet, the QoS guarantee means telehealth consultations are never disrupted by other internet traffic in the practice.
Frequently Asked Questions
What internet connection do I need for FlexPBX?
FlexPBX works over any business-grade internet connection, but it performs best on a Summit internet connection where we can prioritise voice traffic with QoS. Each concurrent call requires approximately 100 Kbps of bandwidth. For a business with 10 people, a standard business internet plan is more than sufficient.
Can I keep my existing phone numbers?
Yes. We port your existing phone numbers to FlexPBX at no additional cost. The porting process typically takes 5 to 10 business days and we coordinate it so there is no interruption to your calls.
What happens if the internet goes down?
If you have Summit's 4G Backup service, your FlexPBX calls automatically fail over to the 4G connection. You can also configure follow-me rules to redirect calls to mobile phones during an outage. Your voicemail continues to operate regardless of your internet status.
Do I need to buy phones?
Not necessarily. You can use the softphone app on computers and mobile devices at no extra hardware cost. If you prefer dedicated handsets, Summit can supply and pre-configure desk phones, DECT cordless phones, reception consoles and conference phones. We can also work with compatible IP phones you already own.
How long does it take to set up?
A typical FlexPBX deployment for a business of 5 to 20 users takes 5 to 10 business days from order to go-live, including number porting. Larger or more complex deployments may take longer, and we will give you a clear timeline during the quoting process.
Can I add or remove users myself?
Yes. The FlexPBX web management portal lets you add new users, remove departing staff, and reconfigure extensions and routing at any time. Changes take effect immediately and there is no need to call Summit or wait for a technician.
Is call recording included?
Yes. Call recording is included in the FlexPBX feature set at no additional cost. You can enable it for all calls, specific extensions or on-demand, depending on your compliance and quality assurance requirements.
Can remote workers use FlexPBX?
Absolutely. Remote and hybrid workers use the softphone app on their computer or mobile device. They make and receive calls on the business number, transfer calls to colleagues, and access all FlexPBX features exactly as if they were sitting in the office.
Why Choose Summit for Your Phone System
Take the first step toward getting connected
Fill out your business details and our team will contact you with the best connectivity or communication solution for your needs.
Your Calls Get Priority on Our Own Network
This is the single biggest reason to choose FlexPBX with Summit internet. Because we own the network your data and voice travel on, we can guarantee your voice traffic is prioritised with end-to-end QoS. Other providers sell you a phone system and hope your internet connection is good enough. We make sure it is.
One Provider, One Point of Accountability
When your phone system and internet come from different providers, problems become a blame game. The VoIP provider says it is the internet. The internet provider says it is the VoIP. With Summit, there is one number to call, one team who can see the entire picture, and one provider accountable for making it work.
Local Melbourne Support
When you call Summit, you speak to our Melbourne-based team. Not an offshore call centre. Not a chatbot. Real people in Melbourne who understand your business, know the technology, and can resolve issues without reading from a script.
Priced for Small and Mid-Sized Business
The big telcos charge $40 to $50 per user per month for their cloud phone systems. FlexPBX delivers the same enterprise-grade features at a fraction of the cost. Every feature is included in one per-user price — no add-ons, no tiers, no hidden charges.
